Ahmad El Lahib

Senior Android Developer at areeba · Payment terminals, EMV & POS apps · Freelance Android, Windows & web apps

Senior Android Developer with 12 years in software development (since 2014), the last nine building Android apps. I specialise in payment terminals: the apps that read cards, talk to the bank, print receipts and connect to cash registers and vending machines. I care about reliable code, real-device testing and clear delivery. Certified Scrum Master and Product Owner, and available for freelance Android, Windows and website projects.

Experience

Senior Android Developer

areeba (Areeba Technologies) · Beirut, Lebanon
Jun 2024 – Present
  • Lead Android development of the POS app running on Nexgo and Kozen payment terminals (UN20, N62, N92 and more), used by merchants across several markets.
  • Delivered payment features end to end: Dynamic Currency Conversion, surcharging, QR payments, tips and settlement, on top of EMV contact, contactless and magstripe flows with PIN and reversals, following PCI-DSS practices.
  • Turned the terminal into the card reader inside vending machines over MDB: moved to 32-bit pricing so high-value items charge correctly, added automatic refunds when a paid item isn't released or the result is lost, and a self-healing connection to the vending service.
  • Integrated cash registers (ECR) over serial and Wi-Fi, and the Terminal Management System for remote configuration and updates.
  • Refactored to MVVM, the repository pattern and Clean Architecture, reducing crashes by 40%; used Kotlin coroutines to cut transaction latency.
  • Built features with Firebase (Crashlytics, Analytics, Remote Config, push), modular SDK / AAR dependencies with Hilt / Dagger, and unit-tested business logic.
  • Built responsive payment screens for phone-size and 480×480 terminals in English, Arabic and Kurdish.
  • Ship releases with backend, QA and product teams in Agile ceremonies (e.g. versions 2.4.9, 2.5.14, 1.47.1).

Mid-Level Android Developer

BMB Group (Move) · Beirut, Lebanon
Oct 2017 – May 2024
  • Designed and delivered a B2B merchandising app from scratch to deployment, owning the full lifecycle from architecture to customer delivery.
  • Built it with MVVM and design patterns such as Strategy, Chain of Responsibility and Repository, keeping the code clean, scalable and maintainable.
  • Solved complex data synchronisation with an offline-first model on SQLite, with no data loss between online and offline states.
  • Integrated payment, reporting and analytics SDKs, and stable receipt and report printing across printer models.
  • Mentored junior developers and introduced unit testing, CI pipelines and peer reviews.
